Therapeutic Program
Moving on - to the Therapeutic program students are required to have successfully completed a Core program from any state-licensed massage school. If the applicant did not take the core - Foundation at Trinity School of Therapeutic Massage or a semester lapse has occurred, the student is then required to pass an entrance exam and complete a full body, basic Swedish massage, including demonstration of proper stretching techniques prior to acceptance into this level. During supervised hours you will hear a easy to follow lecture, see a step by step demonstration and review for the online portion of the class.

Types of muscle contractions (concentric, eccentric, isometric).
(42 hours)
Massage and bodywork assessment, theory and application
Assessing range of motion, assessment areas (soft tissues and bony landmarks, endangerment sites, trigger points, adhesions and ergonomic factors, the effects of gravity and proprioception of movement. and assessment methods (visual, palpatory, auditory, olfactory, intuitive).
(34 hours)
Clinical internship
Students practice their newly acquired neuromuscular trigger point, origin and insertion therapeutic techniques in a supervised, professional atmosphere. Students who are already working can do their clinical internships at their place of work.
(20 hours)
Pathology
Modes of contagious disease transmission (blood, saliva), effects of life stages (childhood, adolescence, and geriatric), indications, contraindications and cautions to massage therapy, and the principles of acute versus chronic conditions.

Myofascial release
Myofascial release is based on the concept that different body structures are surrounded by different types of fascia that have the ability to be stressed and become hardened or to be relaxed and become more fluid. Due to trauma or overuse, tissue can develop adhesions and harden, which decreases mobility and flexibility. Myofascial release techniques are used to promote a more fluid state of fascia. When pressure is applied in specific directions, the fascia warms and "melts," allowing for deeper work to be done.
(3 hours)
Neuromuscular Trigger point therapy
Anatomically oriented, deep tissue, pressure-point therapy is based on neuromuscular stress points associated directly with muscle patterns of pain and uses deep digital pressure sustained for 5 to 30 seconds to release the tissue. This portion of the course covers practical theory and hands on-technique. We will incorporate various tissue manipulation techniques, which use the neuromuscular system to balance and normalize muscle function and reduce pain response.
(20 hours)
Externship (bodywork and bookwork)
Each student is required to keep track of his or her at-home completed bookwork hours and bodywork hours. The school will supply the necessary forms.
(300 hours)
Total in-class supervised instruction (150 hours)
